Clarksville Christmas Parade Friday, Dec. 2, 2022, 6:30 pm 

Deadline for Entries-December 1st 

Organized by the Clarksville Lake Country Chamber of Commerce (434-374-2436) and the Town of Clarksville; the parade will be a fun-filled event with no competitions.  Each entry is required to adhere to the parade regulations below.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

  • Registered entries only–deadline December 1st-no Santa on any entry.
  • All entries must be decorated in a Christmas theme for the holiday & abide with these parade rules and regulations.
  • No candy may be thrown from entries; walkers alongside may hand candy to the children.
  • No sirens, horns or air-horns may be used.
  • Drivers of all entries must have a valid driver’s license.
  • No entry may halt the parade (only exception being the marching bands).
  • All entries must be in line no later than 6:15 p.m. sharp; specific line-up location is provided with the registration form.
  • The Parade Committee reserves the right to reject any and all entries for any reason before and during the parade.  No inappropriate actions or displays will be tolerated.

Holiday Open House – Sunday, November 20, 2022 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM

We invite you to come shop the one-of-a-kind stores at our annual Holiday Open House.  Our merchants are opening Sunday, November 20th so that you can shop Clarksville first from 1 to 5 pm.  Take a ride down Virginia Avenue in a horse-drawn carriage.  Visit Santa at Santa Land in the Virginia Avenue Mall.  As you walk to your favorite store, listen to the sounds of Christmas music.  See what Clarksville has to offer!!

RFP# 2022-001 – LEASE AND SUB-LEASE FOR COMMERCIAL MARINA WITH CONCESSIONS

The Town of Clarksville has issued a request for proposals (RFP) from qualified offerors for lease and sub-lease for a Commercial Marina with Concessions at the Clarksville Marina located at 411 Fourth Street in Clarksville, Virginia.    A PRE-PROPOSAL MEETING will be held on November 15, 2022 at 10 a.m. at 321 Virginia Avenue in Clarksville, VA.  Attendance at the pre-proposal meeting is strongly recommended.  Proposals must be submitted in a sealed envelope marked “RFP 2022-001 – LEASE AND SUB-LEASE FOR COMMERCIAL MARINA WITH CONCESSIONS AT CLARKSVILLE MARINA” to the TOWN OF CLARKSVILLE, Attn:  MR. JEFF JONES – TOWN MANAGER, 321 VIRGINIA AVENUE / POST OFFICE BOX 1147, CLARKSVILLE, VA. 23927 and are due no later than 2 P.M. Public Notice – Avian Influenza (HPAI) In Virginia

Public Notice:

On Sunday, October 16, 2022, the Clarksville Police Department was made aware of several vulture/buzzard carcasses in town at two of their common roosting places.  After consulting with the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources, it is believed that these birds died as a result of the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenzas (HPAI) as many cases have been seen throughout the Commonwealth.  The police department and town employees retrieved these carcasses and properly disposed of them following the guidance of the VA DWR.

Clarksville Police Department and the Town of Clarksville recommends not handling any bird carcasses and to keep your pets and poultry away from the same.  If you do encounter any, maintain a safe distance and contact law enforcement.

Avian Influenza

October 31, 2022 – Trick Or Treat The Avenue – 5:30 PM-7:00 PM

Tuesday, October 31st, from 5:30 pm-7:00 pm – Downtown Clarksville Virginia will be hosting Trick or Treat on the Avenue!  It’s a great way to Trick or Treat and a great way to load up on those sweet treats!

Over 40 merchants and civic organizations will be participating and most will be all dressed up in their costumes and handing out treats from 2nd Street to 8th Street.  All children up to age 12 are invited to this Spooktacular event; each must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.  Please, no masks are to be worn by those 12 years of age or over.

 

Community Meetings Scheduled To Discuss Southside Active Transportation Plan And The Tobacco Heritage Trail Master Plan

The Southside Planning District Commission, Roanoke River Rails-to-Trails, and National Park Service have scheduled a series of community meetings on the Southside Active Transportation Plan and the Tobacco Heritage Trail Master Plan for next week. These meetings will include an overview of each plan, provide a preliminary look at survey data received so far, and will allow residents to provide input on improvements that they would like to see relating to pedestrian facilities, bicycle infrastructure, and multi-use trails throughout the region.

Additional details, such as meeting dates and locations, can be found on the attached flyer. For those unable to attend, you can still provide input through an online survey that will remain open until October 31st.
