Equipment Operator/Maintenance Worker 1

Job Status: Full-Time

Town of Clarksville Public Works is accepting applications for the position of Public Works Operator 1. The position works to maintain Town properties, operates and may perform inspection and routine maintenance on various equipment including Garbage trucks, forklifts, backhoes, medium and pickup trucks, tractors, and mowers in the performance of materials moving, trash removal, grounds keeping and other similar activities, and assist in water and sewer operations. Possession of a valid Virginia driver’s license with a CDL endorsement is required (Class B is preferred). Work involves almost constant exposure to unusual elements and extensive physical activity, requires strenuous physical work, heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 100 lbs. High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified; Completed degree from an accredited institution that is above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
The Town Council of Clarksville, Virginia will hold two public hearings on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. in the Clarksville Town Hall located at 321 Virginia Avenue, Clarksville, Virginia on the following:
1.) To hear public input concerning requests or recommendations related to the upcoming development of the 2022-2023 budget.
2.) To hear and consider the proposed conveyance of a sub-leasehold interest in real property by The Town of Clarksville, Virginia to Clarksville Marina, Incorporated for a one-year term concerning property located at 411 Fourth Street, Clarksville, Virginia, for use as a Marina for recreational and redevelopment use.

CEMETERY FLOWER REMOVAL SPRING CLEAN-UP

Owners of lots and grave sites in Oakhurst Cemetery in the Town of Clarksville are reminded that according to the Town Code all flowers, decorations and non-approved vases must be removed from lots and grave sites by March 21st. This is to allow for the Town staff to conduct its annual spring cleanup. According to the Town Code, any items left on the ground can and will be collected and disposed of by the Town staff. New flower arrangements may be placed on grave sites and on lots after April 1st. Floral arrangements that are on monuments or memorials, or in vases on monuments or memorials, do not need to be removed for the cleanup. Leaf Pickup Service Will End – March 2, 2022
Normal leaf pickup service will end on Wednesday, March 2, 2022. Anyone after this date will need to bag their leaves and place them at the street for pickup with normal garbage.
