Business License Renewals Due By March 2nd

Pursuant to Town Code Section 33.071 License Requirement. Every person engaging in the town in any business, trade, profession, occupation or calling as defined in the subchapter, unless otherwise exempted by law, shall apply for a license for each business.

Business License Renewals are due by March 2, 2020. On March 3, 2020 a late fee of 10% will be accessed.

The Town of Clarksville is soliciting sealed bids from qualified firms for the construction of a new A-frame roof system on the Clarksville Police Department building and the Clarksville Lake Country Chamber of Commerce building.  A pre-bid meeting will occur on January 30, 2020 at 10 a.m. at the Town Hall at 321 Virginia Avenue in Clarksville, VA.  Sealed proposal(s) for this solicitation are due at the Town Hall of Clarksville no later than 2 P.M. (Eastern Time) on February 11, 2020.

Purpose of Scholarship:  To help deserving Mecklenburg County students who are of good character and who are in need of financial assistance for their tuition expenses to achieve their educational goals at a four-year university/college.  The sole mission of this scholarship is to defray the cost of tuition. (If your tuition has been paid by other means, there is no need to apply for this scholarship.)

TOWN TAXES DUE BY MONDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 2020

PUBLIC NOTICE

The Town of Clarksville 2019/2020 Personal Property taxes and Real Estate taxes are due by Monday, February 3, 2020 since February 1, 2020 falls on a Saturday.  The taxes must be paid or postmarked by Monday, February 3, 2020, to avoid a 10% penalty plus interest.  Effective March 1, 2020, a $30.00 administrative fee will be added to all delinquent accounts for each year past due.  Also a DMV Stop will be placed on delinquent personal property tax accounts that includes a $25 fee to remove the stop.  If you have not received you tax statements or if you have any questions, please contact the Town Hall at                (434) 374-8177.

Notice to Customers of the Town of Clarksville Waterworks

NO LONGER UNDER A BOIL WATER NOTICE

Affected customers of the Town of Clarksville were notified on January 1, 2020 of work on utility lines in close proximity to water lines that lead to the precautionary boil water notice being issued to anyone living on the south side of Clarksville between Fourth Street and Seventh Street).

Affected customers were advised to boil all drinking/cooking water until further notice.

The water line repair was completed in the early morning of January 1, 2020 and placed back in service.  Additional sampling of the water was performed on January 1, 2020 and sent to an independent lab.  On January 2, 2020, all the results received tested negative for detection of bacteria in the water.  Therefore, we are pleased to report that the utility repair has been completed and water quality in the affected area is satisfactory.  It is no longer necessary to boil all drinking/cooking water.  We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience and cooperation.
