Notice to Customers of the Town of Clarksville Waterworks
NO LONGER UNDER A BOIL WATER NOTICE
Customers of the Town of Clarksville were notified on November 12, 2019 of the rupture of a main water line and the draining of the water tank that lead to the precautionary boil water notice being issued to the following areas of Town:
Anyone living north of the intersection of US 15 South and Shiney Rock Road (near the Dry Bridge) and anyone living east of the intersection of Willow Drive and Buffalo Road should follow this notice until the boil water notice is cancelled. It includes College Street, Chandler Street, Adams Street, Sunnyside Avenue, Mecklenburg Blvd, Carol Avenue, Virginia Avenue, Second Street, Third Street, Fourth Street, Fifth Street, Sixth Street, Seventh Street, Eighth Street, Ninth Street, Carolina Street, Commerce Street, Market Street, Sizemore Street, East Street, West Street, Rose Hill Avenue, Nero Street, Pine Valley Road, Staunton Terrace, Russell Street, Buffalo Road (east of Willow Drive), Forest Hill, Oak View, Grace Street, Long Beach Blvd, Colleen Drive, Franklin Street, and Woodlawn Drive.
Affected customers were advised to boil all drinking/cooking water until further notice.
The water line repair was completed on the afternoon of November 12, 2019 and placed back in service. Additional sampling of the water was performed on November 12, 2019 and sent to an independent lab. On November 13, 2019, all the results received tested negative for detection of bacteria in the water. Therefore, we are pleased to report that the utility repair has been completed and water quality in the affected area is satisfactory. It is no longer necessary to boil all drinking/cooking water. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience and cooperation.
For more information call: Mr. Richard Elliott, Operation Director, at (434) 374 – 8177 at the Town Office, 321 Virginia Avenue, Clarksville, Virginia 23927.
Please share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.
Date: November 13, 2019
Special Called Meeting of the Clarksville Planning Commission – Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 6 PM at the Town Hall.
The boil water notice is still in effect. Update as of Wednesday, November 13th:
The 12 water inch line that burst at the intersection of 15 & 58 across 58 from Hardees was repaired yesterday afternoon and the line has been put back in service.
Town Staff took a round of water test from four separate locations yesterday afternoon after the repair and some flushing. The results of these test are expected early afternoon today from the independent lab. If all comes back normal, DEQ is going to allow us to lift the Boil Water Notice immediately.
We will communicate this via website, email, Facebook, and the radio.
Businesses and residents who are getting discolored water, need to flush the water by running water. Start with outdoor faucet (if you have one) and once that is clear then run the internal faucets until clear. This can be done prior to the Boil Water Notice being lifted.
I will advise once we get the all clear. If you have any questions, please advise.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Town Manager
