DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
TOWN OF CLARKSVILLE

 

The Town of Clarksville is seeking a Director of Operations.  This position is responsible for managerial and administrative work as the director of operations, including street, cemetery maintenance, solid waste collection and disposal (sanitation unit), an automotive repair/fleet management function, all operations of the Public Works Department including Sanitation, Streets, Fleet Maintenance, all operations of the Public Utilities Department which includes water treatment, waste treatment, and  preparation of the annual budget; supervising and evaluating employees; handling public complaints; requisitioning supplies and materials; planning, scheduling and supervising work assignments. Must be able to be reached 24/7.  Work is performed under the direction of the Town Manager.

This is a full-time position (40 Hours Per Week) but does require off-hours work for emergency repairs.  The Town offers a competitive salary for qualified applicants and an excellent benefit package that includes: major medical coverage, dental, vision, employee life insurance, and Virginia State Retirement.  Paid holidays, vacation, sick days, and uniforms are also provided.

BURNING LAW IN BRIEF:

1.   No burning until after 4:00 p.m. if the fire is within 300 feet of woodland, brushland, or field containing dry grass or other inflammable material.

2.   Fire must be attended at all times if the fire is within 150 feet of woodland or other dry fuel leading to woodland.

3.   No fuel may be added or fire started after midnight.

4.   Law applies to campfires, warming fires, brush piles, household trash, stumps, fields of dry grass and brush, or anything capable of spreading fire.

Annual Oakhurst Cemetery Cleanup – Clarksville VA – March 15, 2023 – March 31, 2023

A cleanup of the cemetery is scheduled for March 15 through March 31, 2023.  Please collect and remove all flowers, ornaments, tributes, receptacles, flags, glass/ceramic figurines, solar lights, photos, frames and any other personal tributes that you wish to keep.  All remaining items left at the gravesite will be discarded.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING CONCERNING THE INTENTION

OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF CLARKSVILLE, VIRGINIA

TO PROPOSE FOR PASSAGE A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF

UP TO $664,000 TOWN OF CLARKSVILLE, VIRGINIA GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS OR NOTES FOR MUNICIPAL PURPOSES

Notice is hereby given to all interested persons of a public hearing concerning the intention of the Town Council of the Town of Clarksville, Virginia, to propose for passage at a meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Clarksville, Virginia to be held on February 21, 2023 at 6:30  p.m. or as soon thereafter as possible, in the Town Council Meeting Room, Town Hall, 321 Virginia Avenue, Clarksville, Virginia, a resolution authorizing the issuance of the estimated principal amount of up to $664,000 general obligation bonds or notes of the Town of Clarksville, Virginia.  The proposed use for which more than ten percent of the proceeds of these bonds or notes are expected to be used is to finance the purchase of a fire truck and related equipment for the Town and related costs.  Persons may appear and present their views at the public hearing.  A copy of the full text of the resolution is on file in the office of the Town Manager of the Town of Clarksville, 321 Virginia Avenue, Clarksville, Virginia, and is available for public inspection during normal business hours.  If you should need auxiliary aids, please contact the Office of the Town Manager at 434-374-8177 at least five (5) days in advance of the meeting.
